The world's first surf board keg, and it's functional
Just when we all thought the beer industry had done it all… Gage Roads Brew Co. in Palmyra Australia absolutely blew our minds!
They created the first ever “Beer Board”, a literal surf board keg. This single fin surf board is filled with 10 liters of Gage Roads Single Fin Summer Ale, with a removable tap and all. Perfect for enjoying a nice cold one after an afternoon surf sesh.
The board itself was engineered by master board shaper Chris Garrett (with lots of trial and error), and ridden by legendary surfers Jack Robinson and Brendan Margieson for its first voyage.
Imagine catching a wave and looking down and seeing a summer ale sloshing around under your feet, and behind it the turquoise blue ocean water, insert mind blown emoji.
What we love about the collab is the stoke behind it – for both the beer and the surf industry. It represents what both are all about: the experience. When surfing, you don’t always catch every wave that you want to, but it’s all about being out on the water and enjoying what the ocean has to offer you that day.
When experiencing a brewery for the first or one hundredth time; it’s about enjoying the vibes, interesting pints, and conversations with friends.
The Beer Board represents the love of the craft. Creating something magical, with thought, effort, and creativity behind it. That’s what a good brewery represents for all of us.
Shout out to Gage Roads for creating something that has never been done before. I hope it’s not the last beer board we will see. (Now how do we order one of these for ourselves?😉)
