[ 01 // THE FLIGHT ]
Our faves from this week
🐟 Dogfish Head is adding some heat to their fall lineup with their Punkin Liqueur and 15% cocoa & chiles stout.
👰♀️ Payette Brewing in Boise is channeling it's inner Munich, except here you have the chance to become Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest.
🎶 The first of it's kind; brewery, restaurant, and... concert venue?! Your Myrtle Beach vacation just got even more fun.
🐻 Nature Calls with the WILDEST beer we’ve ever seen: black bear scat infused lager... I think we may have to pass on this one!
☕ Finally, Nick DeFae is creating the WFH dream with a cafe that doubles as a brewery. All day espressos and crushable Hazy IPAs sounds like heaven.

Save the turtles: beer edition
Florida is commonly known for its white sandy beaches and warm ocean water, but did you know that its Northern Coast is also home to the diamondback terrapin turtle? They’re super cute, look ‘em up.
Sadly these turtles have faced an uncanny amount of adversity in the past two centuries. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries they were hunted commercially for turtle soup. More recently, there are other risks like being hit on the road, drowning from fishing traps, and poaching. Sad, right?:( Thankfully, Florida wildlife preservation groups are leading efforts to keep these turtles safe.
In Jacksonville, Bold City Brewing has also stepped in to do their part, hosting an event on September 19 called Drink Beer, Save Turtles (obviously) as a fundraiser to drink good beer and learn about conservation efforts for saving the terrapin turtles. Now that’s an event we can get behind.
And here’s what’s even better than drinking beer and supporting wildlife: purchasing turtle merch where 100% of the proceeds go to field efforts to save the turtles. (Our favorite is the Alliance Icon Pint Glass, we need this for our collection.)
What we love about this story is it’s another example of how a deep rooted craft brewery stands up for an effort that is more meaningful than the beer. As the oldest craft brewery in Jacksonville, Bold City is a leader in the space and is setting a great example for the rest of the industry.
Bold City Brewery’s motto is Be Bold! So we want to encourage you all to be bold, stand up for causes you care about, and as always drink good beer while doing it.
